Winery Water Management Workshop with Dr. David Bolzonella

The workshop is being held at Hattingley Valley Wines on Friday, 2 March, 2012, starting at 10:00 and finishing at 16:00.

The workshop will focus on winery water management in relation to:

• Sustainable water use in the wine sector
• Measuring water consumption in wineries
• Water use reduction strategies
• Wastewater loads and characteristics
• Wastewater treatment technologies (aerobic and anaerobic
processes) for discharge or reuse
• Management of waste as a substrate for anaerobic digestion and
biogas recovery.

David is Chair of the International Water Association IWA Specialist Group on Winery Wastewater Treatment. He is an expert on the management of winery waste water and on anaerobic processes for the treatment of high strength wastewaters for the recovery of energy, chemicals and nutrients.

David received a degree in Environmental Sciences from the University Cà Foscari of Venice in 1997 and a PhD in Industrial Biotechnology form the University of Verona in 2003. He was Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering at the Department of Biotechnology of the University of Verona from 2005 to 2011, and spent last year as a Reader in Environmental Process Technology at the University of Southampton.
